Manus AI developed by Chinese startup Monica, represents a potential huge step forward in the use of artificial intelligence, positioning itself as the first truly autonomous AI agent.

While DeepSeek's models have efficiently replicated existing capabilities, Manus moves the needle by autonomously performing complex tasks, building software, and running tasks from start to finish. If DeepSeek, ChatGPT, etc., are like McKinsey—offering sometimes great advice on how to do things—Manus demonstrates the ability to actually get things done.

Currently leading the GAIA benchmark, Manus has received positive reviews that highlight its practical application in solving real-world problems. Unlike earlier models that offered suggestions requiring further execution, Manus autonomously completes tasks, marking a big leap in AI capability. See Hugging Face.

Notably, Manus integrates existing large language models (LLMs), including Anthropic's Claude 3.5 Sonnet and Alibaba's Qwen, rather than relying on proprietary models. This means Manus isn't about any particular model—it's about effective model usage, unlocking untapped potential.

Demonstrated use cases include autonomously performing complex tasks such as sorting résumés, analyzing stock trends, and building websites—capabilities not yet demonstrated by leading U.S. AI labs. So far, people who've had hands-on experience have been very positive. This isn’t just benchmark hacking; it’s a real step ahead.

When I get a chance to play with it, I'll let you know how it performs on real insurance tasks!
